Properties
PEI is an amorphous, high-performance thermoplastic with high stiffness in conjunction with high temperatures. PEI has very low smoke development and good resistance to high-energy radiation. Furthermore, PEI has a low coefficient of thermal expansion and high heat distortion resistance as well as good machining properties.
Processing
PEI can be machined with conventional machines and tools. PEI can be processed in numerous ways, e.g. turning, milling, sawing, planing, drilling or waterjet cutting. The material is used among other things in parts that must withstand high temperatures or high mechanical loads.
