Most plastics are electrical insulators and can therefore become statically charged through friction. Subsequent uncontrolled static discharge can damage products and adversely affect performance. To enable plastics to be used in these areas, we add special carbon black types or other additives to them, which significantly increases their conductivity or significantly reduces their electrical resistance. As a result, the plastics are static-dissipative or in some cases even conductive.
